Mechanical Design Engineer – Asset Intelligence
WarringtonWe are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading engineering organisation working on a variety of high-profile projects across the UK. This role offers the chance to work on exciting multi-site initiatives while developing your expertise in mechanical and building services engineering.
What You’ll Do
- Lead mechanical design and project management across diverse projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
- Provide support and mentorship to junior engineers, managing aspects of the design team as required.
- Liaise with clients, attend project meetings, and maintain strong relationships.
- Conduct site surveys, inspections, and prepare detailed reports and condition assessments.
- Monitor project budgets and financial performance.
- Develop mechanical and technical standards and ensure adherence across projects.
- Deliver projects from concept design through to detailed design, including tender preparation and specification writing.
- Work closely with controls teams to integrate control strategies and operational requirements.
- Produce design drawings and calculations using CAD and other engineering software in line with recognised frameworks (RIBA/BG6).
- Travel to various sites across the UK to support project delivery.
About You
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical design, ideally within consultancy or contracting environments.
- Chartered Engineer or working towards professional registration with a recognised body such as CIBSE or IET.
- Strong understanding of regulations, industry standards, sustainability principles, and energy-related systems.
- Experience with HVAC systems, heating/cooling distribution, boiler/CHP systems, ventilation, flue systems, and building services engineering. Steam system experience is advantageous.
- Proficiency with CAD, Revit/BIM, Amtech, Dialux/Relux, and familiarity with CIBSE guides, IEE/BS standards, CDM regulations, and RIBA/BG6 frameworks.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills.
