Senior Quantity Surveyor

A leading UK-based civil engineering and infrastructure specialist, delivering complex projects across water, transport, and energy sectors. With a strong reputation for direct delivery, technical expertise, and collaborative working, the business operates across long-term frameworks, bespoke schemes, and reactive works, consistently delivering high-quality solutions in challenging environments.

The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a dynamic team delivering a diverse portfolio of civil engineering and infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to work across frameworks, bespoke schemes, and reactive works, with project values ranging from £200k to £10m+.

As a key member of the commercial team, you will play a vital role in driving cost efficiency, managing risk, and supporting successful project delivery. You’ll work closely with project teams and senior stakeholders, contributing commercial insight while developing your expertise within a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate cost, value, and cash flow reporting
  • Manage project forecasting, CVRs, and commercial planning
  • Prepare applications for payment through to final account
  • Lead subcontract procurement, negotiation, and financial management
  • Administer contracts (primarily NEC and IChemE forms)
  • Identify and realise commercial opportunities while mitigating risk
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders on commercial matters
  • Support project teams with cost control and efficiency improvements
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes and commercial governance

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Quantity Surveying role within construction or civil engineering
  • Strong knowledge of NEC/IChemE contracts and construction law
  • Experience in subcontract procurement and commercial management
  • Demonstrable ability in cost reporting, forecasting, and analysis
  • Strong communication, organisational, and analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Desirable

  • Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent)
  • Membership of RICS (or working towards)
  • CSCS card
  • Experience with estimation and direct delivery contracting
