Design Engineer – Civil Engineering & Infrastructure
A leading UK civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is seeking a Design Engineer to join a growing technical team delivering major projects across water, transport, energy, and the built environment. This is an opportunity to shape both temporary and permanent works and provide crucial technical support from design through construction.Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and check detailed structural designs, calculations, drawings, risk assessments, and design certificates.
- Develop preliminary designs and ensure outputs meet CDM, health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Provide technical advice and support to operational teams, identifying value-engineered solutions.
- Review complex construction methods, method statements, and potential defects.
- Assist estimating teams with design-related pricing and supplier approvals.
About You
- Experience in structural or civil engineering design, covering temporary and permanent works.
- Skilled in structural analysis software, CAD, and MathCAD; familiar with Eurocodes and BS standards (e.g., BS 5975).
- Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Strong communicator, able to work independently and collaboratively.
Desirable: Site and office experience, Chartered/Incorporated Engineer status (or working toward it), CSCS card.
