Contracts Manager – Gas Infrastructure
North West, England 


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Contracts Manager to join a rapidly growing infrastructure contractor delivering critical utility projects across the UK energy sector.

This role is ideal for an experienced Gas or Pipeline Contracts Manager, or a Senior Project Manager ready to take the next step in their career, looking to join a forward-thinking organisation with a strong pipeline of long-term work. Based from an office in the North West, you will oversee a portfolio of projects within the gas transmission and distribution sector, ensuring safe, efficient and commercially successful delivery while maintaining excellent client relationships and operational performance.


The Role

As Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of multiple projects from mobilisation through to completion, ensuring targets are achieved across safety, quality, programme, commercial performance and customer satisfaction.

You will lead operational teams, manage stakeholder relationships, and work closely with commercial and project delivery teams to drive high standards across all areas of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of gas infrastructure projects across transmission and distribution networks.
  • Develop and oversee strategic delivery programmes to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Lead and support operational teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with HSQ&E standards, company procedures and contractual obligations.
  • Conduct regular site visits, coaching teams and promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and supply chain partners.
  • Work collaboratively with commercial teams to manage financial performance and programme controls.
  • Identify and manage project risks, variations and change controls.
  • Support recruitment, development and performance management of project teams.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of project progress, performance and risks.
  • Assist with tender support and work-winning activities where required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong background delivering gas or pipeline infrastructure projects and experience managing high-value contracts or project portfolios.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within the gas, utilities or pipeline sector.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering projects from inception through to completion.
  • Experience managing operational delivery, HSQ&E and commercial performance simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Full UK driving licence as you'll be travelling and lodging away when required.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience working with major UK gas network operators such as National Grid, Cadent, Northern Gas Networks or SGN.
  • Experience managing high-value or multi-project portfolios.
