Estimator

Summary:
We are working with a leading client who is looking for an Estimator to join their growing team working within the power sector. The candidate will be working on National Grid projects, collaborating with other Estimators in the office to bid to win work for the company. This role is fully office based.

Main Responsibilities:

• Carefully inspect tender documentation and understand the contractual requirements to analyse and identify specific requirements and recognise potential risk and constructability implications (unfavourable ground conditions, onerous contract clauses etc.)
• Prepare detailed tender estimates from first principle, ‘take offs’ and Bill of Quantities (BoQ)
• Clearly mark BoQ to identify items requiring external price enquiries from suppliers and subcontractors
• Produce and coordinate such enquiries together with the relevant specifications, preliminary elements and appropriate drawings. Working with the supply chain and monitor the enquiry process and return timescales.
• Check and verify rate build-ups and amend/recommend adjustments as necessary
• Develop and maintain a library of outputs and pricing data
• Prepare pre-start contract documents and hand over to project delivery team

Experience:

• Recognised qualification to at least HNC standard, preferable BSc or equivalent
• Experience in Civil Engineering/Utilities sector (desirable)
• Computer literacy - Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Salary banding will be dependent upon experience and full benefits package will be discussed upon shortlisting.
