- Description
Project Engineer (MEICA)
Our client is an established UK infrastructure specialist delivering engineering and construction projects across key regulated sectors. As a Tier 1 partner on long-term frameworks, they combine in-house expertise with a hands-on delivery approach to take projects from concept through to completion.
This is an opportunity to deliver complex infrastructure, take ownership of engineering, and drive projects from design through to site.
We’re looking for a MEICA Project Engineer to take technical ownership across major UK infrastructure programmes. You’ll sit at the centre of project delivery—bridging design, commercial, and construction teams—to ensure projects are safe, efficient, and delivered right first time.
This role goes beyond coordination. You’ll influence design decisions, challenge methodologies, and play a key role in driving delivery on site.
What you’ll be doing- Leading the technical delivery of MEICA packages from concept through to completion
- Producing and reviewing functional specs, drawings, and technical documentation
- Managing suppliers, subcontractors, and engineering partners
- Working closely with Project Managers to deliver projects on time, on budget, and safely
- Driving buildability, efficiency, and value engineering across the lifecycle
- Identifying and mitigating technical and delivery risks
- Supporting commercial teams with variations, scope changes, and cost inputs
- Carrying out technical assurance, audits, and quality checks
- Acting as a key interface between design, site teams, and clients
- Troubleshooting engineering challenges and keeping projects moving
What we’re looking for- Background in MEICA, industrial installations, or infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of design, construction, and commissioning interfaces
- Confident working across multiple stakeholders and disciplines
- A hands-on problem solver who can make decisions under pressure
- Solid grasp of health & safety and risk management
- Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
You’ll likely have:
- Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, ICA, or related field
- Site certifications (e.g. CSCS, SMSTS/SSSTS)
- Experience working in utilities, water, or infrastructure environments
Why this role stands out- Work on secured, long-term infrastructure frameworks—not just one-off projects
- Real ownership in a direct delivery environment (not just managing subcontractors)
- Exposure to full project lifecycle—design through to build and handover
- Opportunity to influence how things are built, not just what gets built
- Clear pathway for progression in a business that promotes from within
The kind of person who thrives hereYou’re practical, not theoretical.
You challenge designs when they don’t work on site.
You take responsibility and push projects forward. If you want to move closer to delivery, have more technical influence, and actually see your decisions built—this is that role
