Description

Quantity Surveyor – Northern Region (Flood Alleviation)

Due to continued success, the business is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join its Northern Region, initially working on a Flood Alleviation scheme in Lowdham.

This is a hybrid role, combining home working, attendance at the Chesterfield office, and regular site visits.


Key Responsibilities

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards

  • Preparing contracts, budgets, bills of quantities, and related documentation

  • Carrying out on-site measurements and measurements from drawings

  • Identifying and managing commercial risks and mitigation strategies

  • Undertaking ongoing cost analysis of works

  • Preparing estimates and feasibility studies

  • Analysing and agreeing subcontractor quotations

  • Preparing and agreeing variations, interim valuations, and final accounts

  • Issuing payment certifications to subcontractors

  • Providing commercial support for dispute resolution

  • Ensuring adherence to company procedures and policies


Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within heavy civil engineering

  • Strong knowledge and experience working with NEC forms of contract

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

  • A proactive, flexible, and solutions-focused approach

  • Strong numeracy and IT capability

  • Willingness to travel regionally

  • A full UK driving licence
