Description

Overview:

Mobile Plant Fitter - based in Walsall with regular travel to customer sites. You’ll service, maintain and repair hire-fleet plant and specialist equipment, attend breakdowns, complete scheduled work and keep accurate maintenance records while supporting the Plant/Operations team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned servicing, maintenance and breakdown repairs to mechanical and non-mechanical plant to manufacturer and company standards.

  • Create and close workshop jobs in the system; record hours, parts and upload certificates/photographs.

  • Request and manage parts orders; maintain tools, spares and vehicle stock; flag stock shortfalls.

  • Identify and report rechargeable damage, assist with equipment disposal recommendations.

  • Liaise with customers and operations to communicate progress and minimise downtime.

  • Support stock checks and annual inventory activities.

  • Work to HSEQ policies: complete risk assessments, report incidents/positive interventions and maintain good housekeeping.

  • Contribute practical ideas for process improvements and keep Team Leader informed of progress/issues.

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Previous experience as a Plant Fitter / Mechanical Engineer (field-based).

  • Computer literate (job/parts recording).

  • Strong verbal and written communication; attention to detail.

  • Team player, flexible and self-motivated.

  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Forklift licence.

  • NVQ / City & Guilds in plant maintenance.

  • In-date CSCS card.
