Description

Overview

We are recruiting on behalf of a main contractor for a Sub Agent to manage small-to-medium civil and utilities sites across the Greater London area. This is a hands-on, site-focused role delivering water/utility and general civils works (trunk mains, pumping station works, highways reinstatement and associated civils).

You’ll manage site delivery to programme, cost and quality targets, either running smaller standalone sites or supporting a Site Agent / Project Manager on larger schemes. Strong HSEQ leadership, good stakeholder engagement and clear commercial discipline are essential.

Key responsibilities

  • Run day-to-day site activities to deliver programme, quality and customer requirements.

  • Produce and manage site programmes; supervise subcontractors and operatives.

  • Interpret drawings and specifications; provide engineering input and resolve site issues.

  • Maintain HSEQ compliance: inductions, inspections, audits and QA records.

  • Produce concise client reports and chair regular site meetings.

  • Keep accurate site diaries, as-built records and cost records; support cost forecasting.

  • Liaise with clients, statutory bodies and local stakeholders.

Skills & experience (essential)

  • Significant civil engineering/site management experience (utilities/water projects advantageous).

  • Knowledge of NEC contracts, CDM, temporary works awareness, programme and risk management.

  • Degree / HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

  • CSCS, SMSTS and NEBOSH or IOSH.

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Strong communicator with proven ability to lead site teams and manage subcontractors.

Desirable

  • Water industry experience (AMP programmes, trunk mains, pumping stations).

  • Temporary Works Co-ordinator, CPCS or Appointed Person training.

  • Working towards CEng/IEng or chartered membership.

Package

Competitive salary and benefits (pension, life assurance, private medical options, annual leave + bank holidays, training & development). Exact package depends on experience and role level.
