Overview
We are seeking a talented Contracts Manager to play a key role in delivering a wide range of water and wastewater projects across the Thames Water framework. This long-term programme, running through to the end of AMP8 in 2030, covers both infrastructure and non-infrastructure schemes throughout the Thames Valley region, including Aylesbury, Oxford, and Reading.
As a Contracts Manager, you will take ownership of multiple projects that improve communities and protect the environment — from upgrading treatment works and improving flood defences, to delivering sustainable, nature-based solutions that support biodiversity. This is an excellent opportunity for a Contracts Manager with proven experience in the water or major infrastructure sectors to lead delivery on one of the UK’s most critical frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
-
Lead and motivate a team of Site Managers to deliver successful project outcomes.
-
Drive consistency, safety, and quality across multiple water and wastewater schemes.
-
Ensure compliance with standards, processes, and health & safety requirements.
-
Manage programme and commercial delivery while building strong client relationships.
-
Support the professional growth and development of your project team.
-
Take full accountability for project performance, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
What do we need from you?
To succeed as a Contracts Manager on the Thames Water framework, you will bring:
-
Previous experience delivering projects in the water sector or on major civil engineering/infrastructure frameworks.
-
CSCS card and SSSTS/SMSTS certification.
-
HNC/Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent professional experience).
-
Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and construction practices.
-
Working knowledge of NEC3/4 contract forms.
-
Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
-
A valid driving licence and flexibility to travel across the Thames Valley region.
Benefits
As a Contracts Manager, you’ll have access to a comprehensive package, including:
-
26 days annual leave (plus bank holidays).
-
Enhanced pension scheme.
-
Life assurance.
-
Private medical insurance.
-
Structured progression pathways and tailored training plans.
-
Support towards professional chartership and career development.
-
The opportunity to work on long-term, high-profile projects that shape essential UK water infrastructure.
If you’re an experienced Contracts Manager looking for your next challenge, this is your chance to take a leading role in one of the UK’s most vital water frameworks — apply today and help shape the future of Thames Water’s infrastructure.
