Overview

We are seeking a Senior SHEQ Advisor to join a main contractor, providing vital health, safety, environmental, and quality support on major infrastructure projects. In this pivotal role, you will be embedded with their teams, working on behalf of Southern Water to ensure the highest standards of safety and compliance are met across all operations. We're looking for a proactive and experienced Senior SHEQ Advisor to drive a positive safety culture and be a key part of our commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct periodic risk assessments and implement robust, preventative safety procedures.

  • Provide expert SHEQ advice and guidance to colleagues and subcontractors on site.

  • Ensure contracts and day-to-day operations are compliant with all relevant regulations.

  • Lead audits and conduct root cause analysis to identify and address potential risks.

  • Develop and deliver innovative, engaging, and effective training and briefing materials.

  • Foster strong relationships with the client's (Southern Water's) representatives to ensure alignment on safety goals.

  • Be willing to travel as required to various project sites to ensure a consistent safety presence.

What We Need from You

  • Experience:

    • Significant experience in a SHEQ Advisor role within the construction and water industries is highly desirable.

    • Proven ability in auditing and root cause analysis techniques.

  • Skills:

    • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to coach, motivate, and influence people at all levels.

    • A deep understanding of CDM Regulations, specifically in relation to the Client, Principal Designer, and Principal Contractor roles.

    • Confidence in recommending preventative actions and driving new initiatives.

  • Qualifications:

    • NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent).

    • SHEA Water (desirable) 

    • A valid, full UK driving licence.
