Description

We are looking for a Design Engineer to support the development of civil, mechanical, and process design solutions for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role involves producing technical designs for schemes such as pumping stations, sewer installations, and treatment systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate design options with project teams to ensure compliance and effectiveness

  • Complete technical calculations for mechanical and hydraulic systems

  • Produce and review outputs such as P&IDs and datasheets

  • Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies

  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards

  • Maintain accurate technical documentation

  • Flag potential design risks to avoid delays or cost impacts

  • Promote safe design practices in line with CDM regulations

Key Relationships:

  • Project and site engineers

  • Construction and delivery teams

  • Safety and environmental advisors

  • Commercial and estimating departments

  • Subcontractors and external stakeholders

Essential Criteria:

  • HND, degree, or equivalent in civil or mechanical engineering

  • Experience with water or wastewater systems

  • Proficient in engineering software and Microsoft Office

  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills

  • Effective team collaboration and communication

Desirable:

  • Professional membership with an engineering institution

  • Understanding of permitting and environmental regulations
