Overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in MV Switchgear and estimating to join a growing engineering business delivering critical electrical infrastructure projects across the UK.

This is a varied role where you'll take ownership of projects from tender stage through to successful completion, combining project management with estimating support. Working across the power, utilities, industrial and data centre sectors, you'll play a key role in delivering technically challenging projects while helping secure future business through accurate, commercially competitive tenders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage MV switchgear and electrical infrastructure projects from contract award through to successful completion.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for MV switchgear, protection & control, package substations, LV distribution and associated electrical works.
  • Review specifications, drawings and tender documentation to develop competitive bids.
  • Produce project programmes, budgets and resource plans.
  • Coordinate internal teams, suppliers and subcontractors throughout project delivery.
  • Build strong client relationships and act as the primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor project performance, commercial outcomes and programme progress, managing risks, variations and change control.
  • Support procurement activities and identify value engineering opportunities to maximise project profitability.
  • Oversee testing, commissioning and project handover, ensuring contractual obligations and client expectations are met.
  • Promote high standards of health, safety, quality and environmental compliance across all projects.
  • Support business development through tender interviews, repeat business opportunities and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager within the MV switchgear, electrical engineering or power infrastructure sector.
  • Previous estimating experience with the ability to prepare accurate and commercially competitive tenders.
  • Strong technical knowledge of MV electrical distribution systems, protection and control equipment.
  • Experience delivering projects within the utilities, power, industrial, infrastructure or data centre sectors.
  • Commercially aware with experience managing project costs, variations and profitability.
  • Able to interpret electrical drawings, single line diagrams and technical specifications.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and client-facing skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and estimating software.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering desirable.
  • SMSTS, IOSH Managing Safely, ECS/CSCS and knowledge of control systems or automation are advantageous.
