Description

Part 2 Architectural Assistant

A design-led architectural studio based in Newcastle is looking to appoint a motivated Part 2 Architectural Assistant to join its growing team.

The practice works across a varied project portfolio including housing developments, bespoke residential projects, commercial schemes and heritage work. This is a good opportunity to join a friendly and collaborative studio where you will gain hands-on experience and genuine involvement in live projects rather than purely production-based work.

The role will involve supporting project architects across a range of work stages, from early design through to planning and technical delivery.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparing drawings, layouts and presentation material.
  • Assisting with planning applications and building regulation packages.
  • Supporting residential and mixed-use projects.
  • Producing design information and technical details.
  • Attending meetings with clients, consultants and local authorities.
  • Contributing to internal design discussions.

The position would suit a Part 2 who is keen to develop their technical ability and move toward Part 3 within a supportive practice.

Requirements:

  • RIBA Part 2 qualification (UK).
  • Good design and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of UK planning and building regulations.
  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Good communication and organisation skills.
  • Interest in residential architecture.

Desirable:

  • Revit experience.
  • Photoshop and InDesign skills.
  • Some experience working in a UK architectural practice.
  • Intention to progress toward Part 3.

The successful candidate will receive mentoring and broad project exposure within a relaxed studio environment. The role would particularly suit someone who wants to be involved across all stages of projects and build a well-rounded portfolio.
