Description

 

We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to support the delivery of wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure design projects under an NEC contract framework. This design-led role spans the full project lifecycle, from concept through to construction issue, ensuring effective coordination, compliance, and technical quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate design activities from feasibility to detailed design and construction issue

  • Interpret client requirements and develop practical engineering solutions

  • Collaborate with planning teams to develop and maintain P6 programmes

  • Act as the key interface between clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams

  • Manage design deliverables including drawings, reports, specifications, and schedules

  • Support construction teams with technical queries, constructability reviews, and handover documentation

  • Ensure all designs meet health and safety legislation, technical standards, and NEC contract obligations

  • Attend project meetings and contribute to design reviews and progress updates

  • Provide mentoring and technical support to junior staff

  • Maintain accurate project documentation including registers and logs

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or ICA Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • Strong understanding of health and safety requirements and engineering design standards

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and familiar with NEC contract processes

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills

Desirable

  • Experience in the water and wastewater industry

  • Familiarity with WIMES standards and BIM processes

  • Understanding of programme and schedule management

  • Commercial and contract awareness

  • PRINCE2, SMSTS, or NEBOSH qualifications
