The Role

The Estimator plays a key role in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects. This involves analysing drawings, visiting sites, and working with sub-contractors and suppliers to source prices under tight deadlines. The role focuses on minimising financial risk while identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring tenders are compliant and well-prepared.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and submit detailed quotations and tender documents
• Calculate material, labour, transport, and equipment costs
• Liaise with clients, project managers, and site teams
• Analyse project drawings and specifications
• Source and evaluate sub-contractor and supplier quotes
• Develop and maintain cost databases and budget sheets
• Assist in identifying new tender opportunities
• Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards
• Use relevant software including Excel, Word, and Bluebeam

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Experience as an estimator in construction or groundworks
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities
• Proficient in reading technical drawings and specifications
• Skilled in cost control, budgeting, and negotiation
• Effective communicator with the ability to meet tight deadlines

Desirable Qualifications:

• HNC/HND or degree in Construction or Engineering
• Familiarity with CAD and industry-standard estimating software
