Description

We are working with a leading company seeking an experienced Design Coordinator to support the delivery of design and technical solutions across major water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to coordinate design aspects throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate design in line with budget and programme, ensuring compliance with project requirements, standards, and specifications.
  • Support the Design Manager in fulfilling Principal Designer duties and adhering to CDM regulations.
  • Promote safety, buildability, environmental best practices, and sustainability through design.
  • Assist in producing design plans and briefs.
  • Coordinate external design consultants and collaborate with internal teams, including environmental, archaeological, and planning disciplines.
  • Work closely with construction teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and buildable.
  • Provide input into construction planning, consents, and stakeholder management.
  • Oversee internal and external design assurance, governance, and review processes.
  • Identify, record, and manage design changes, risks, and opportunities.
  • Ensure quality in design, aiming for ‘right first time’ outcomes.
  • Support the preparation of handover documentation.

Requirements

  • Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent (or working towards qualification through apprenticeship or similar).
  • Considerable experience in water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of Temporary Works and associated responsibilities.
  • Awareness of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and common data environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and staff.
  • Strong time management and project design management skills.
  • Self-driven, results-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality outcomes.
