Business Development Manager - Infrastructure
Location: Cheshire (Hybrid with UK Wide Travel)
An established UK infrastructure contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager to support the continued growth of its Gas & Energy Infrastructure division.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business delivering major utility infrastructure projects across the UK. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing new business opportunities, strengthening existing client relationships, and securing work across gas and energy infrastructure frameworks.
The Role
You'll be responsible for identifying and securing opportunities across gas infrastructure, utility frameworks and energy projects, working closely with bid, estimating and operational teams to convert opportunities into successful contract awards.
The role will focus on both repeat business and new client acquisition, developing long-term relationships across utility companies, developers and asset owners.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with gas network operators, utilities, developers and key stakeholders.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities across gas infrastructure and utility frameworks.
- Lead opportunity qualification and manage the sales pipeline from enquiry through to contract award.
- Support tender submissions alongside estimating and bid teams.
- Monitor framework opportunities and procurement activity.
- Develop regional networks and strategic partnerships.
- Maintain accurate CRM reporting and sales forecasting.
- Support wider strategic business development initiatives across the energy sector.
About You
We're looking for an experienced Business Development professional with a strong background within UK gas or utility infrastructure.
You will ideally have:
- Minimum 5 years' Business Development experience within utilities, gas or energy infrastructure.
- Proven experience securing work through framework agreements and repeat business.
- Strong understanding of UK gas network procurement routes.
- Experience developing and managing client relationships within utility organisations.
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Experience working alongside bid and estimating teams.
- Full UK driving licence.
Essential Experience
Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience working on major infrastructure projects valued upwards of £25m, with a proven track record of securing and developing high-value opportunities within the utilities or energy sector.
