Operations Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Operations Manager to join a leading infrastructure delivery business operating across the UK utility sector. This role will oversee the successful management and delivery of a portfolio of projects at a Gas Terminal. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.
This is a senior leadership position requiring extensive experience within Gas Transmission projects and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a highly regulated operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the successful management and delivery of live and mobilising contracts across the Bacton site.
- Develop and manage strategic programmes of work to ensure contractual and operational objectives are achieved.
- Attend and lead pre-contract and contract meetings with clients and stakeholders.
- Oversee tender submissions for new works, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and alignment with client expectations.
- Coordinate design, quality management, resource planning, defects management, and out-of-hours operations.
- Drive high-performing project delivery teams to achieve operational KPIs and client targets.
- Ensure contractual obligations and commercial responsibilities are effectively managed.
- Act as a visible leader for SHEQ, promoting exemplary standards in health, safety, environmental and quality management.
- Conduct audits, ensure compliance with company procedures, and promote continuous improvement across all operations.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal departments.
- Lead people management responsibilities including performance reviews, coaching, mentoring, and team development
About YouThe ideal candidate will be an experienced operational leader with a strong background in gas transmission infrastructure and complex project delivery environments.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience managing multiple contracts within the Gas Transmission sector.
- Strong leadership capability with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrable knowledge of SHEQ standards, compliance, and quality management systems.
- Experience in programme management, resource allocation, and supply chain coordination.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to manage cost, programme, and performance outcomes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Full UK driving licence.
Qualifications
- Industry-related degree or equivalent qualification.
- Professional membership such as MCIOB, MICE, or equivalent desirable.
- Valid CSCS card.
