Senior Quantity Surveyor – Utilities & Infrastructure Projects
A dynamic, family-run company with over 25 years of experience in utilities and reinstatement projects is seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor. The company specialises in telecoms civils and tailored reinstatement services, delivering projects with uncompromising quality, safety, and environmental care.
This role offers the chance to manage the financial aspects of utility infrastructure projects, ensuring budgets are met and projects are delivered successfully.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage cost estimates and budgets for complex utility projects.
- Conduct detailed cost analysis and risk assessments throughout project lifecycles.
- Measure, value, submit, and negotiate contract variations.
- Assist in procurement, including selecting contractors and suppliers.
- Prepare tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities, and other project documentation.
- Monitor project progress and provide financial reporting to senior management.
- Negotiate contracts and maintain strong client relationships.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct post-completion audits and financial accounts for completed projects.
Required Experience & Skills
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally in the utilities or infrastructure sector.
- Strong knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts.
- Experience managing project costs in water, gas, electricity, or other utility projects.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Membership of a recognised professional body (RICS/ICES) – desirable.
- Familiarity with project management or cost management software – desirable.
- Experience working with public utility companies or contractors – desirable.
