Description

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading main contractor delivering major water infrastructure and treatment works schemes across the Midlands and surrounding regions. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Contracts Manager to take ownership of multiple complex projects involving wastewater treatment upgrades, civils, mechanical interfaces, process improvements and environmentally driven infrastructure works.

The Contracts Manager will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of schemes within a busy framework environment, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with client expectations. This role will involve leading site teams, maintaining high standards of compliance, driving consistency across delivery, and ensuring programme, cost and quality objectives are achieved. You will act as a key point of contact for operational and commercial matters, supporting multiple workstreams and ensuring each scheme is planned, coordinated and handed over successfully. The Contracts Manager will be expected to promote a positive delivery culture, build strong relationships and support the continued growth and development of the project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instil a strong delivery culture and drive consistency across multiple schemes

  • Lead and support site managers and wider project teams to ensure successful programme execution

  • Oversee commercial and operational performance across the portfolio

  • Ensure compliance with company standards, quality procedures and health & safety requirements

  • Maintain strong client relationships and deliver a high level of customer satisfaction

  • Support the development, coaching and progression of site-based teams

  • Coordinate delivery to ensure works are completed safely, on time and within budget

  • Work closely with stakeholders, consultants and supply chain partners to resolve issues and maintain progress

  • Monitor performance against programme, cost and quality targets

  • Provide strong leadership as a Contracts Manager across all live workstreams

Qualifications:

  • HNC, HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent site-based experience

  • Proven experience in a Contracts Manager or senior project delivery role within the water sector

  • Strong background in wastewater, clean water, treatment works, pipelines, pump stations or other heavy civils infrastructure

  • Desirable: previous experience working on a Severn Trent Water framework or a similar regulated water utility framework

  • Good working knowledge of NEC contracts and framework delivery requirements

  • Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality management in a live operational environment

  • Experience managing multiple workstreams, subcontractors and site teams

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the operational region

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary and package with an enhanced pension scheme

  • Career progression within a major long-term framework environment

  • Ongoing training and development support

  • Opportunity to work on high-profile infrastructure and treatment works projects

  • Support towards professional development and chartership where applicable

  • A stable, growing business with a strong pipeline of secured work

If you are an ambitious Contracts Manager looking for your next long-term move on major water infrastructure projects, we would welcome your application today.
