A well-established and growing civil engineering contractor delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across the region. Their portfolio includes highways, roads, groundworks, earthworks, remediation and plotworks for both public and private sector clients. With a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to appoint an experienced and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to join their team.
The Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of civil engineering projects from pre-contract through to final account. Working closely with the Contracts Manager, Site Managers, and clients, you will ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining strong commercial control and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation, submission, and agreement of interim valuations
- Cost control, forecasting, and reporting of project performance
- Management and negotiation of subcontractor packages
- Procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
- Preparation and submission of variations and final accounts
- Risk and opportunity management
- Assisting with tender preparation and pricing where required
- Ensuring compliance with contractual requirements (e.g. NEC, JCT where applicable)
- Liaising with clients, consultants, and internal teams
About You
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering
- Strong background in roads, groundworks, earthworks, and/or plotworks
- Experience managing subcontractors and commercial reporting
- Good understanding of NEC and/or JCT forms of contract
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and relevant commercial software
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (preferred)
- Full UK driving licence (if site-based role)
