The Role
As the business looks to increase efficiency while outperforming project and customer expectations, projects must be planned in an innovative, robust, and accurate manner.
Civil engineering and infrastructure projects are varied in value, complexity, and duration, ranging from established frameworks to individual bespoke projects and unplanned emergency works. With project values typically ranging from £200k to £10m+, this role is essential in driving efficiencies within the scope of work, improving cost efficiency, and delivering a consistently high standard of planning.
This is an opportunity for an experienced Planner to join the team and play a key role in the delivery of high-profile projects within the civil engineering sector.
Key Responsibilities

Ensure planning standards at both organisational and project level are exceeded, with full adherence to planning and control procedures

Assist with tendering, pre-construction, and delivery of a range of opportunities and live projects by collaboratively developing and maintaining robust, detailed project plans

Ensure project plans capture the full project scope, with resources considered and loaded as required, and that contractual and programme-specific requirements are met

Collaboratively develop and establish optimal construction methodologies, logic sequences, and work outputs by drafting programmes for review and preparing logistics diagrams

Proactively identify opportunities and risks within the programme

Monitor the critical path and key milestones, advising the delivery team on potential changes and leading challenge and mitigation actions

Develop programmes to clearly demonstrate the impact of change in compliance with contractual and project-specific requirements

Attend site visits and progress meetings

Monitor progress and update short-term plans, progress reports, and construction programmes

Develop 4D animations of the project plan to support digital rehearsal of construction activities

Manage all project reporting requirements, including monthly programme submissions, weekly lookahead schedules, dashboards, and volumetric analysis

Manage and coordinate all impact demonstration and analysis programmes in line with NEC contract requirements

Review, interrogate, and integrate subcontractor programmes into the overall project programme
About You
Essential
-
Advanced Primavera P6 experience with strong knowledge of NEC contracts

Previous experience leading collaborative planning processes

Ability to interrogate drawings and technical information to deliver an efficient planning service

Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to a wide range of stakeholders

Comfortable working in pressurised environments with tight deadlines

Adaptable and innovative, with a supportive approach to enhancing team performance and planning capability across the business
Desirable

Experience using Oracle Primavera Cloud (OPC)
-
Previous site-based experience with a strong understanding of project delivery from inception to completion
-
Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
