  • Liaise with project teams and senior management to provide commercial guidance, ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company standards.
  • Prepare cash-flow forecasts, cost reconciliations and project cost reports for management review.
  • Support change management process: identify, quantify and negotiate changes, claims and variation orders with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Drive continuous improvement of commercial processes, tools and reporting mechanisms.
  • Mentor and develop junior commercial team members as required.
  • Ensure adherence to company values, safety, quality and environmental standards.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering/infrastructure sector (water, highways, utilities or similar).
  • Strong contract and commercial management capabilities covering measurement, valuation, claims and final accounts.
  • Good knowledge of civil engineering construction methods, subcontracting and supply chain dynamics.
  • Excellent numerical skills, commercial awareness and the ability to interpret and analyse financial data and cost reports.
  • Confident communicator at all levels – able to influence and collaborate with site, project and commercial teams.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to make decisions under pressure, with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in commercial software and MS Office (Excel, Word, Project). Experience in construction/contract management systems is desirable.
  • Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or similar; professional membership (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is beneficial.

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience of infrastructure projects in challenging environments (e.g., live utilities, highways, water/wastewater).
  • Understanding of health, safety, environmental and social value considerations in civils/infrastructure projects.
  • Experience of mentoring others or developing a commercial team.
