- Description
We are seeking a Design Manager to coordinate and support design partners in delivering FEED, Optioneering Studies, Conceptual and Detailed Designs for our long-term UK gas frameworks. Working closely with the Framework Director, you will lead the design process, ensuring compliance, quality, and timely approvals to enable successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage external design teams, monitoring capability, capacity, and performance.

Oversee the full design process from concept to detailed design, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and alignment with programme, budget, and quality requirements.

Chair design management meetings, ensuring designs meet regulations, client specifications, and internal assurance requirements.

Manage budgets, schedules, and change control processes throughout design development.

Collaborate with stakeholders including engineers, consultants, and design houses to ensure effective communication and integrated solutions.

Review and coordinate designs, ensuring buildability and delivery team requirements are incorporated.

Resolve design issues during project lifecycle, including managing RFIs/TQs, and share lessons learned across projects
Essential
-
Strong civil and mechanical background with thorough knowledge of the onshore UK gas sector.

Ability to review drawings, identify buildability issues, and assess technical risks.

Experience managing the design process, budgets, programmes, and compliance.

Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Proven ability to prioritise, influence, and motivate design teams.

Knowledge of construction methodology, sequencing, and pre-construction design activities.

Problem-solving, decision-making, and risk management capabilities.

Full UK driving licence.
Desirable

Previous experience working with National Gas, Cadent, or other Gas Networks.

Project and process management qualifications.
