Description

Are you a detail-focused and driven Buyer seeking your next opportunity in the housing industry? We are partnering with a well-established housing developer who is looking for a Senior Buyer to become a key member of their dynamic team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead pre-start meetings, including presenting relevant Health & Safety documentation
  • Support the broader Commercial and Buying teams by exploring new products, solutions, and industry innovations
  • Act as the Deputy for the Buying / Procurement Manager when needed, helping to develop sales specifications for each project
  • Negotiate and agree on price specifications with key manufacturers and suppliers, preparing CPC1 (Material Costs) documentation and providing material schedules based on working drawings
  • Place material orders and procure additional materials not included in schedules, managing supplementary orders and analysing any cost or quantity variations
  • Coordinate plant orders by collaborating with the Construction Director to plan site layout and setup

Requirements:

  • At least five GCSE passes at grades A–C, including English and Maths
  • Demonstrated experience working with a contractor or residential house developer in a procurement or buying role 
  • Solid understanding of building regulations and legal requirements 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods and materials 
  • Strong mathematical skills and proficient in IT, with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Sound understanding of budget management
  • Excellent negotiating and networking abilities

Desirable:

  • Degree in Construction or similar
  • HNC / ONC in Construction or similar
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Building, or working towards full membership
  • Working towards being a chartered member of the Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS)
  • Experience of COINS
