Description

We are working with a key delivery partner supporting Yorkshire Water projects to appoint a Lead Commissioning Engineer with strong Mechanical, Electrical, and Process (MEP) experience. This is a pivotal role leading the commissioning strategy and overseeing the end-to-end MEP delivery across a portfolio of water infrastructure schemes.

You will manage a regional team of MEP Engineers and act as a key link between design, delivery, and commissioning — ensuring systems are installed and handed over safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with design, regulatory, and client standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a regional team of site-based MEP Engineers, providing performance oversight, mentorship, and technical direction.

  • Act as the primary MEP point of contact for Operational and Contract Managers across Yorkshire Water schemes.

  • Develop and implement robust commissioning strategies aligned with programme timelines, safety requirements, and operational objectives.

  • Ensure cohesive integration between design, installation, and commissioning phases to maximise engineering value.

  • Maintain compliance with internal quality and safety systems; analyse health and safety data and drive improvements.

  • Coordinate MEP planning across all phases — design, install, test, commission, and handover.

  • Oversee MEP resourcing, competency, and forward planning for all regional schemes.

  • Lead regular coordination and performance review meetings with key subcontract partners.

Requirements:

  • HNC or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering (or equivalent experience).

  • Proven background in MEP delivery and commissioning within civil infrastructure, ideally water.

  • ECS and SMSTS (or willingness to complete training).

  • Strong communication, planning, and leadership skills.

  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across the Yorkshire region.

Benefits Include:

  • Competitive salary with company vehicle or car allowance

  • Enhanced pension, private healthcare, and life cover

  • 26 days’ holiday plus bank holidays (with the option to buy more)

  • Support for professional development, including training and paid memberships

  • Flexible working options and strong commitment to employee wellbeing
