Contracts Manager

A leading tier one contractor is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Operations Manager to play a key role in expanding and strengthening its gas infrastructure delivery capability across the UK. This role offers a unique opportunity to build and lead a growing team within a business actively investing in its gas division, delivering long-term frameworks with major clients such as Cadent Gas and National Gas.

As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for establishing and leading a delivery structure that supports both current and future project needs. This includes setting up teams, systems, and processes to ensure efficient, safe, and commercially sound operations. You will be instrumental in driving a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the operational delivery of gas infrastructure projects across multiple UK sites

• Build and develop a capable and motivated delivery team to support long-term business growth

• Drive the implementation of strong health, safety, and environmental standards across all operations

• Work closely with commercial, design, estimating, and pre-construction teams to ensure well-coordinated project execution

• Develop and embed operational processes and reporting frameworks to improve delivery performance

• Foster strong client relationships by ensuring consistent and reliable delivery aligned to framework commitments

• Oversee project planning, controls, forecasting, and risk management activities

• Ensure full compliance with NEC contracts and proactively manage commercial change processes

• Support strategic recruitment, succession planning, and training initiatives

Requirements:

• Demonstrable experience as an Operations Manager or Senior Project Leader within the gas or broader utilities/infrastructure sector

• Proven ability to build teams, introduce structure, and improve operational performance in a growing business

• Strong knowledge of NEC contract frameworks and infrastructure delivery models

• Experience working with gas clients such as Cadent Gas, National Gas, or similar

• Capable of influencing at both strategic and delivery levels across multiple programmes

• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel/stay away when required

• Right to Work in the UK is essential
