About the Role

Our client are a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering high-quality infrastructure and groundworks solutions across the North East. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee plotworks projects in and around Stockton-on-Tees.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, technical knowledge, and a proactive approach to programme delivery, safety, and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day site operations on plotworks schemes (roads, sewers, drainage, foundations, external works).
• Coordinate subcontractors, direct labour, plant, and materials.
• Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
• Maintain high standards of health & safety and ensure compliance with all regulations.
• Liaise with clients, engineers, local authorities, and utility providers.
• Monitor programme progress and report to Contracts Manager.
• Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks, and quality checks.
• Ensure accurate record keeping, RAMS implementation, and site documentation control.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Site Manager within civil engineering and groundworks.
• Strong background in plotworks (housing infrastructure experience preferred).
• SMSTS (essential)
• CSCS (Black/Gold Card)
• First Aid at Work
• Temporary Works Coordinator (advantageous)
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical specifications.
