We’re looking for a dynamic Bid Manager to join a leading Tier 1 contractor in the North East. With a strong pipeline of exciting work ahead, this is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping winning bids and turning great ideas into successful projects.
Based on our Gateshead office, you’ll be part of a collaborative preconstruction team, with the flexibility to work from home when needed, because we know work-life balance matters.
About the Role
As a Bid Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind successful tenders, managing the full bid process from inception through to handover. You’ll lead and motivate both internal and external teams, including estimators, planners, design, and MEP professionals, to deliver high-quality bids that exceed customer expectations.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Managing two-stage and negotiated tenders for projects ranging from £5m to £70m.
- Leading bid teams and ensuring resources, information, and timelines are aligned.
- Developing commercial and technical strategies that give bids a competitive edge.
- Building strong relationships with clients and managing expectations throughout the process.
- Embedding sustainability goals into every bid.
- Monitoring progress, identifying risks, and taking proactive action where needed.
- Encouraging collaboration to ensure a seamless transition from preconstruction to delivery.
You’ll be part of a company that delivers projects across multiple sectors, including education, leisure, health, blue light, transport, and commercial, with many secured through national and regional frameworks.
About You
You’ll have proven experience leading and managing complex bids within the construction industry, with a background that could come from operations, planning, commercial, design, or estimating.
You’ll bring:

- Excellent communication and relationship-building ability.
- Confidence managing multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
- A passion for delivering quality, sustainable solutions that meet customer needs.
Experience managing the bid process for large or framework-based projects will be a real advantage.
