Site Manager –  New Build

Location: Hebburn, UK
Hourly Rate: Negotiable DOE
Contract Type: 6 months

About the Role

A well-established and respected regional contractor is seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the delivery of a housing scheme near Newcastle. This role offers the opportunity to manage a dynamic project from the groundworks stage through to final handover, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency throughout.

As Site Manager, you will be responsible for leading site operations, coordinating subcontractors, and driving the project forward to meet programme and budgetary targets. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a company with a strong reputation for delivering quality housing projects across the region.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and oversee all on-site activities to ensure timely delivery of the housing scheme.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, ensuring work is carried out to agreed standards and specifications.
  • Monitor project progress, addressing any issues promptly to minimize delays or disruptions.
  • Implement and uphold the highest health and safety standards, ensuring full compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct quality control inspections to ensure that all works meet required standards and client expectations.
  • Liaise with the project team, local authorities, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth project delivery.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including progress reports, site diaries, and Health & Safety documentation.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager on housing schemes or similar residential developments.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, house-building standards, and NHBC requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and motivate teams effectively.
  • A proactive problem-solver with a commitment to delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid at Work certifications (essential).
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, with a track record of maintaining a safe working environment.
  • IT literate, with experience in using project management and reporting tools.
