Assistant Estimator £28,000 - £40,000

Construction Our client, a regional housing contractor is currently recruiting for a Assistant Estimator to work on a number of contracts & frameworks within the Yorkshire Regions.

Office Location: Wakefield 

Role overview:
·       Assist in the appraisal of new land opportunities.
·       Carry out detailed take-offs to abstract into land appraisals and cost plans.
·       Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates and budgets for projects, including materials, labour, and plant.
·       Review project specifications and understand project requirements.
·       Collaborate with other members of the team including Land Managers, Technical, and Design to gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
·       Issue enquiries to the supply chain and obtain competitive tenders for subcontract and material supplies.
·       Maintain and update cost databases.
·       Assist in preparing bid proposals and other documentation required for project bids.
·       Support senior estimators and the commercial function generally with tasks as required.

Requirements:
-              Bachelor's degree or BTEC Diploma, or currently studying towards in construction related qualification.
-              Previous experience in New Build housing preferred but not required.
-              Proficient in cost estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
-              Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
-              Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
-              Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
-              Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
-              Eagerness to learn and develop skills in estimating and construction management.
