- Description
I am currently working with a Leading Housing Contractor, who are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team due to an increasing workload across the year.
Projects consist of New Build Housing development in Durham.
What will you be doing:
- Be responsible for Sites, varying size and complexity. You will set up budgets, produce Bi-monthly valuations, appoint and pay subcontractors to maintain cost control.
- Manage weekly and monthly payments efficiently, resolve any item disputes, and produce an accurate picture of site financial status.
- Conduct site valuations regularly and present to the Board of Directors to specify any variation from budgeted figures.
- Take on negotiations to secure the best possible rates for sub-contract appointment to maximise margins.
- Utilise Company system software to set up new sites and establish budget, forecasting site profitability for financial planning verification.
- Cooperate with other departments such as; Construction, Sales, Customer Care and Accounts to ensure the sites run efficiently.
- Comply with Company responsibilities, defined in the Groups Health, Safety and Environment Policy and ensure this is implemented with in the teams to promote safety in the way projects are built.
- On occasion, when deputising for the manager, ensure the team are allocated tasks, in which the quality of work will be verified to ensure tasks are completed to a good standard and in line with company guidelines.
- The role will involve mentoring and training junior members of the team and assist in developing their skills to a good standard, with the aim of them taking on further responsibilities and add value to the team.
- Provide assistance to the manager when making key business decisions and attend regional meetings regularly as the relevant subject expert.
- Assistance will be provided with an allocated Trainee or assistant QS to help with elements of the role.
What are we looking for:
- Previous experience in the UK Residential House Building Sector.
- Minimum of HND/HNC in building relating studies.
- Full UK driving License.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Capacity to oversee busy projects each at different stages of development, whilst having excellent project management and time management skills.
