Description

Our client is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join the growing team in the North East. Working on Data centre projects nationally. The ideal candidate will have M&E experience (not essential ) and will be working on JCT and some NEC contracts.

 

Reporting to the Commercial Manager in the North East site you will work to maintain commercial information to the contract, satisfying the needs of both the client and internal colleagues. The Quantity Surveyors are key to ensuring the appropriate commercial results through the provision of accurate financial reporting whilst managing subcontractors' supplier accounts and understanding the customer needs to consistently provide high customer service and on-site delivery. You will also provide advice and support to the Engineers and project managers running facilities management and small work jobs.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Producing and sending inquiries to subcontractors inviting them to tender and engage with the supply chain.

  • Attend and contribute to financial and progress meetings with the client and subcontractors when required. 

  • Managing ongoing costs of live projects through to completion.

  • Produce bill of quantity/activity schedule for payment purposes. 

  • Monitor and control income and expenditure on contracts.

  • Provide advice and support to site teams and colleagues. 

  • You will be responsible for estimating new inquiries.

 

What do we need from you?

  • Ability to use a range of IT packages including Microsoft Office and bespoke packages. 

  • Negotiation skills and ability to apply those skills internally and externally.

  • Previous experience in the construction industry, ideally refurbishment and extension in the Education sector.

  • Willingness to work on your own initiative and progress your career.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral & written.

  • Experience of JCT and NEC contracts ideal.

  • HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying.

  • CSCS card.
