Description

Linear Recruitment are working with a Regional Construction firm based in Newcastle that are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team. As the Assistant quantity surveyor you will work within the commercial team, to price a variety of projects from the existing client base through all costing stages to completion.

Previous Assistant Quantity Surveying experience required for this role, within New Build housing and/or a background of Social housing refurbishment works.

Responsibilities: 

  • You will be responsible for estimating new inquiries. 
  • Managing ongoing costs of live projects through to completion. 
  • Producing and sending inquiries to subcontractors inviting them to tender and engage with the supply chain. 
  • Produce bill of quantity/activity schedule for payment purposes.  
  • Monitor and control income and expenditure on contracts. 
  • Attend and contribute to financial and progress meetings with the client and subcontractors when required.  
  • Provide advice and support to site teams and colleagues.  

 What we need from you?

  • Ability to use a range of IT packages including Microsoft Office and bespoke packages.  
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral & written. 
  • Negotiation skills and ability to apply those skills internally and externally. 
  • Previous experience in the construction industry, ideally refurbishment and extension in the Education sector. 
  • Willingness to work on your own initiative and progress your career.  
  • Experience in running your own projects (ideal). 
  • HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying. 
  • CSCS card (ideal)
