About the Company

We are working with a growing Civils & Groundworks contractor looking for an experienced and commercially minded Senior Estimator to join our team.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with strong experience in civil engineering, groundworks and infrastructure projects who is looking to take the next step in their career and play a key role in securing new work. As Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders from enquiry through to submission. You will work closely with the commercial and operational teams to ensure projects are priced effectively and deliverable within programme and budget.

Responsibilities

  • Key responsibilities include
  • Reviewing tender enquiries, drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
  • Preparing detailed and accurate estimates for civils and groundworks projects.
  • Producing bills of quantities and detailed take-offs.
  • Obtaining and assessing supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Identifying project risks, exclusions, opportunities and value-engineering options.
  • Liaising with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Preparing tender submissions and supporting documentation.
  • Reviewing project programmes, methodologies and construction requirements.
  • Attending tender meetings and site visits where required.
  • Supporting the commercial team with handovers following successful tenders.
  • Maintaining strong knowledge of current material, labour, plant and subcontract costs.
  • Managing multiple tenders and deadlines effectively.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an Estimator / Senior Estimator within civils, groundworks or infrastructure.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of groundworks, drainage, foundations, roads, utilities and associated civil engineering works.
  • Excellent ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Experience using estimating/take-off software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team.
  • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities and managing tender risks.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience specifically within civils, groundworks and infrastructure projects.
