Freelance Site Engineer – Civil Engineering
Location: Berwick-upon-Tweed
Contract Duration: 6–12 Months
Start Date: Immediate / ASAP
Rate: Competitive Day Rate (DOE)We are currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to join a major civil engineering project based in Berwick-upon-Tweed.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of infrastructure works, including roads, drainage, sewers, and associated civil engineering packages. This is an excellent long-term freelance opportunity with an expected duration of 6–12 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setting out and surveying works in accordance with project drawings and specifications.
- Managing and maintaining accurate site records.
- Producing and reviewing as-built drawings and survey data.
- Ensuring works are delivered to the required quality, programme, and safety standards.
- Coordinating with site management, subcontractors, and project teams.
- Conducting quality inspections and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Assisting with planning and sequencing of works.
- Identifying and resolving technical issues on site.
- Supporting the commercial and project management teams with progress reporting and documentation.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Site Engineer within the civil engineering sector.
- Strong background in roads, drainage, sewers, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
- Proficient in setting out using GPS and robotic total station equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- CSCS Card.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
