Site Manager – Civil Engineering (Reinforced Concrete / Dam Project)
Location: Gateshead office (project in Liverpool)
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £50k - £60k base + car + 25% working away from home allowanceAbout the Role
We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to join our client initially working on a reinforced concrete project for a dam in Liverpool then a varied portfolio following. Working for a leading civil engineering contractor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring the works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
This role is ideal for a Site Manager with strong experience in heavy civil engineering and large-scale reinforced concrete structures.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate all on-site construction activities

Oversee reinforced concrete works, including formwork, rebar installation, and concrete pours

Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards

Plan and monitor works against the construction programme

Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site labour

Maintain accurate site records, reports, and documentation

Liaise with the Project Manager, engineers, and client representatives
-
Identify and resolve site issues efficiently to minimise delays

Ensure works are delivered in line with design specifications and contractual requirements
Requirements
-
Proven experience as a Site Manager within civil engineering

Strong background in reinforced concrete structures, ideally dams, bridges, or major infrastructure

Excellent knowledge of construction methodologies and sequencing

Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills

Ability to manage multiple work fronts in a high-risk environment

Solid understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice
Qualifications (Essential / Desirable)

SMSTS (or equivalent)

CSCS (Manager level)

First Aid at Work

HNC / HND / Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline (desirable)
