Freelance Civils Site Manager

Location: Peterlee (initial scheme)
Region: North East
Contract: Freelance (Temp to Perm for the right person)

We are a well-established civil engineering company based in the North East and are looking to appoint an experienced Freelance Civils Site Manager to oversee works on an upcoming scheme in Peterlee, with the potential for ongoing work on future projects.

The Role

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, and to a high standard of quality.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing site activities and subcontractors

• Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards

• Coordinating labour, plant, and materials

• Liaising with the project team, clients, and suppliers

• Maintaining site records, RAMS, and progress reporting

• Ensuring works are delivered on time and within scope

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Civils Site Manager within civil engineering

• Strong knowledge of groundworks, drainage, and associated civils works

• SMSTS, CSCS (Gold or Black), and First Aid (essential)

• Ability to manage multiple trades and maintain site discipline

• Strong communication and organisational skills

• Full UK driving licence
