Freelance Assistant Site Manager – Housing
Location: Houghton-le-Spring, County Durham
Contract: Freelance / Self-Employed
Rate: £23-£25 per hour
Duration: Ongoing, with potential for extension
We’re seeking an experienced Assistant Site Manager to support the delivery of a new-build housing development in Houghton-le-Spring. This is a freelance position working alongside the Site Manager to ensure the project runs safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Site Manager with the day-to-day running of the housing site.

Coordinate subcontractors and ensure works are completed to programme and specification.

Oversee site health, safety, and quality compliance.

Manage deliveries, materials, and documentation.

Liaise with clients, trades, and suppliers to maintain smooth site operations.

Attend and contribute to site meetings and progress reporting.
Requirements:

Previous experience as an Assistant Site Manager or Site Supervisor within house building.

Valid CSCS and SMSTS/SSSTS certifications.

Strong understanding of NHBC standards and residential construction processes.

Excellent organisational and communication skills.

Ability to work proactively and support the site leadership team.

Available to start immediately or within short notice.
