Description

Our client, a self-delivery main contractor, is seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their team due to continued growth and new projects commencing. The role will involve both site and office-based work. With a strong pipeline of work, this is an excellent opportunity to take the next step in your career and play a key role in shaping major projects.

Your responsibilities:

  • Lead the commercial management of a flagship project, overseeing a team of Surveyors and supporting staff.
  • Accurately value, certify, and issue payment notices for subcontract works in line with contract conditions.
  • Ensure timely submission of external valuations and that payments are received as per contract terms.
  • Produce and review Cost Value Comparison (CVC) reports, ensuring accurate forecasting of project performance and profitability.
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with supply chain partners, consultants, and clients.
  • Proactively identify potential disputes and work with senior management to implement effective resolutions.
  • Provide commercial guidance to the project team, ensuring budgeted targets are achieved or exceeded.
  • Drive consistency, compliance, and best practice across all commercial processes.

 

Skills and Aptitude:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Motivated and proactive approach to delivering quality developments.
  • Ability to manage and mentor junior surveyors.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • IT literate with strong administration skills.
  • Collaborative approach, working closely with clients, project teams, and stakeholders.

 

Requirements:

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor, ideally within construction, education, fit-out, or large-scale projects.
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge, with the ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Procurement and subcontract management experience.
  • Solid understanding of construction regulations, standards, and contract law.
  • Strong financial and cost control skills.
  • Experience in re-measurement and final accounts.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
