Description

We are working with a client who are a rapidly growing development company in the UK, specialising in delivering high-quality affordable housing, retirement living, and extra-care schemes. Their dedicated construction team focuses on the design, planning, and execution of innovative construction projects nationwide. They are currently looking for a skilled and experienced Estimator to join their dynamic team.

About the Role:

As an Estimator, you will be integral to preparing comprehensive cost estimates for land appraisals, ensuring accurate monitoring of cost changes on all ongoing projects. You will be responsible for developing budget estimates and summarising costs from appraisals to budgets, including detailed cost engineering analyses. You will report to the Commercial Director.

Key Responsibilities:

- Land Appraisals: Generate commercial reports for land appraisals, ensuring all construction costs are current and accurately appraised.
  
- Estimating: Update preliminary and sitework rates regularly, while establishing and maintaining a regional cost library.

- Budgeting and Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of strategic plans by advising on build cost indices/inflation and providing updated appraisals or forecasts for build expenditures.

- Health and Safety Compliance: Maintain familiarity with company health, safety, and environmental policies, ensuring adherence to responsibilities.

- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and external partners to ensure all land elements meet required standards.

What You’ll Need:

- Experience: Proven experience with a reputable civil engineering or groundworks contractor or developer.

- Knowledge: Deep understanding of current measurement rules and the ability to apply them in creating detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs).

- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the capacity to liaise effectively with clients, consultants, and internal teams.

- Problem-Solving Abilities: Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to addressing issues and challenges.

- Attention to Detail: Exceptional precision and a keen eye for detail.
