Location: North London
Project: Student Accommodation Scheme 900 Unit High Rise SchemeAbout the Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the cost management on a major high-rise development project. This exciting scheme will consist of 900-unit high-rise student accommodation. As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take the lead on all commercial aspects of the project, ensuring it is delivered on time and within budget, while maintaining the highest quality standards.Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the cost control and financial performance of the development.
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts.
- Manage tender processes, negotiate with contractors, and prepare contract documents.
- Ensure project costs are accurately monitored, tracked, and reported to stakeholders.
- Advise the project team on cost-effective solutions and identify potential cost savings.
- Work closely with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the project.
- Oversee the measurement and valuation of works, including assessments and variations.
- Monitor cash flow, prepare payment applications, and ensure timely payments.
- Mentor and guide junior staff and assist in their professional development.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, contractual, and health & safety standards.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- MRICS or equivalent professional qualification (preferred).
- Proven experience in managing large-scale, complex construction projects, preferably in high-rise residential, student accommodation, or similar sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of construction contracts (JCT, NEC, etc.) and cost management.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Proficiency in cost management software and MS Office.
