Due to ongoing growth, our client is looking for a Payrole Clerk to join their expanding team based in Stockton. This is a key role in the finance department, where you will be responsible for processing payroll and ensuring accurate and timely wage calculations for employees. The successful candidate will work closely with HR and finance teams and will use Microsoft Excel extensively to manage data and reports.
The Role:
- Process weekly and Fortnightly payroll for all employees, ensuring all hours worked, deductions, and adjustments are accurately calculated.
- Use Excel to generate reports, track hours, and ensure payroll data is reconciled with timesheets and attendance records.
- Support accounts department with maintaining accurate payroll records for all employees, including personal details, tax codes, and pension contributions.
- Communicate with employees regarding payroll inquiries, including wage discrepancies and deductions.
- Liaise with HR to update employee records and ensure payroll data is current (e.g., promotions, benefits, leave).
- Tasks may also include supporting the preparation of year-end payroll reports and assisting with audits.
The successful candidate will have:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office suits.
- Previous experience working as a Wage Clerk, Payroll Administrator, or in a similar finance role (highly desirable).
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and National Insurance contributions. Desirable but not essential.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in managing payroll data and calculations.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with employees, HR, and finance teams.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of payroll software systems (e.g., Sage Payroll, QuickBooks, or similar) is advantageous.
