Our client is a Tier One main contractor based in Newcastle working in a range of sectors including Education, Leisure, Multiroom High Rise, Housing and Facility Maintenance. They are looking for a senior Quantity Surveyor to join their established team based on projects in and around Newcastle, Gateshead, and Sunderland. With a strong reputation in the Northeast and a good pipeline of work, this is an excellent time to join the team.
What you will be doing:
- Preparing bills of quantities and schedules of works for pricing.
- Preparing and sending out of Sub-contract inquiries.
- Attending, and contributing to, client and subcontractor meetings as required.
- Preparing Valuations with Client, agreeing amounts for payment, and ensuring invoices are prepared and issued.
- Re-measuring work using site measurement and measurement from drawings.
- Re-measurement of subcontract applications and processing subcontract payments.
- Informing Sub-Contractors of Contract Variations.
- Monitor and control income and expenditure on contracts.
- Provide advice and support to site teams and colleagues.
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team.
Qualifications:
- Managing ongoing costs of live projects through to completion.
- Producing and sending inquiries to subcontractors inviting them to tender and engage with the supply chain.
- Produce bill of quantity/activity schedule for payment purposes.
- Monitor and control income and expenditure on contracts.
- Attend and contribute to financial and progress meetings with the client and subcontractors when required.
- Provide advice and support to site teams and colleagues.
What do we need from you?
- Ability to use a range of IT packages including Microsoft Office and bespoke packages.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral & written.
- Negotiation skills and ability to apply those skills internally and externally.
- Previous experience in the construction industry, ideally in health care.
- Willingness to work on your own initiative and progress your career.
- Experience of JCT and NEC contracts ideal.
- HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying.
- CSCS card.
